Google Search Comparison Chart

(Your blogs in the Ning will not show up in this search.) Search for books that Google has scanned and indexed. Search for a location on a map or create directions. Search through thousands of news sources available on the web. Search for scholarly literature available on the web.
Do I need to pay to view results? It really depends upon the website. No, though depending upon the privacy settings someone has on their blog you may not be able to read the full post. It depends. If you want to view the full text of a book under copyright you need to pay for it. If it's in the public domain you can view the full text. No It depends. Most new stories will be available for free, but a very small amount of news sites do require payment to view the story. It depends. Some is available full text but at least half of your results will require payment if you want to view the article.
