What is the main purpose of this site? To store and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms. There are Nings for almost anything.
How can I use it to collaborate with others? All items uploaded and created in Google Docs can be part of a collaboration. All items uploaded and created in Zoho can be part of a collaboration. The wiki website can be part of collaboration, but uploaded items, like documents, are just uploaded like attachments. Nings are more about sharing than collaborating. You can upload and share items, but those items can't be edited in the Ning.

You can have the whole wiki open to everyone or have things locked down.  Nings can either be open for anyone to join or locked down for membership approval. There are additional privacy settings to control what you personally share.
