Slideshow used in webinar:
MONTH 4 - DATABASE EXPLORATION: "THINK LIKE A LIBRARIAN"
- Tools to better navigate the Visible Web:
- Databases provided by the State of MN - ELM databases (ELM = Electronic Library for Minnesota)
Independent Learning Instructions - use these for self-paced learning and blogging inspiration
- Blog your thoughts about the Visible versus Invisible Web. Do you think students understand this? Is there a better way to explain it to them?
- Try using the Librarians Internet Index or InfoMine to find resources. Did you find these useful?
- What databases are provided through your school library? Try using the Database Exploration Checklist to analyze a database provided by your school to see if it'd be useful for your students.
- Look through the list of ELM databases (on the left-hand side of the page you can look at the list of databases by name or by category). Use the Database Exploration Checklist to analyze an ELM database you've never used before to see if it'd be valuable for your students.
- Blog about your experiences using these databases. Let us know of databases that aren't provided through ELM but are provided through your school library.
