1.  Post at least two different blog posts on or after the first two days of training.

2.  Explore the MILI Ning.  Try changing your MyPage theme (hint: click the MyPage tab, then the Manage MyPage link, then the Appearance link).

2.  When you receive an email based upon your Tech Specs Questionnaire, watch the videos given to you before the next MILI meeting.  After watching the videos post a blot post about something you learned from them.


INDEPENDENT LEARNING INSTRUCTIONS - use these for self-paced learning and blogging inspiration


1.  Explore the MILI Ning and check out some MILI alum blog posts.  Do you think this will be a good place to interact with your colleagues?

2.  In what other types of online social networks do you interact?  What has social networking done for your professional development in those networks?

3.  What web 2.0 tools have you previously used for education?

4.  Download Firefox and look for some Add-ons that may save you some time and let us know about them.

  • If you have a Google account, go to iGoogle to log in.
  • If you do NOT have a Google account, follow these directions to sign up for one.
  • Now log into iGoogle.
  • Change the theme of your page by clicking on the Change Theme From link.
  • Add some gadgets to your page by clicking the Add Stuff link.

1. Between now and our in-person meeting next month, post at least one blog post per week about what you're doing with some of the tools/concepts we've introduced you to.

2. Further explore the Research Project Calculator (RPC) and the Dribbling Lessons Wiki. Could you see using the RPC with some students? Do you find any lesson plans within the Dribbling Lessons Wiki that you could use in your classroom or that could help you rework a previous assignment? Blog about it.

4. Add at least 5 RSS feeds to your Google Reader account AND/OR add at least 10 different gadgets to your iGoogle page. Analyze these resources - are they good ways to help you organize information and/or share it with others? Blog about it.

1. Analyze some more of your assignments with the ART Evaluation of Assignments. Are there things about the research process you could change in some of your assignments?

2. When it comes to plagiarism, do you discuss this with students in your class? Have you ever tried using online videos to help you discuss it? Check out this one from Penn State. Would it be helpful to show your students?

3. After hearing what the academic librarians said, is there anything that you want to try to add to your classes to better prepare students for college?

4. Do you have any other places online that you use to find suggested lesson plans? Share them in a blog post.
