10-11 Monthly Webinar Questions

These are the questions for each monthly webinar. If you are unable to attend a live webinar for a certain month, you are required to watch the webinar and then answer the questions for that month in a blog post.

 

Month 2 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 2 WEBINAR QUESTIONS) 

1) Now that you've heard about Google Docs, how could you use Google Docs within your classroom? Blog about it.

2) Edit the Who's on First document. What features of Google Docs do you like? What features do you not like? Blog about it.

3) LeAnn talks about other tools besides Google Docs that you can use for collaboration. Have you used any of these other tools, and if so, how? If you haven't used these other tools, do you see a way you could use them in your classroom or have students use them? Blot about it.

 

Month 3 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 3 WEBINAR QUESTIONS) 

1) Think of a current, past, or future assignment where you needed students to search the web for information. What search strategies from tonight's webinar could you use to better help students search the web for that assignment? Blog about it.

2) LeAnn talked about using worksheets with students and giving them some of these search tips when they're doing online research. Think back to your experiences in college. How is searching for information different for these students than it was for you? Will things like Google Books, News, and Scholar help students or is it all too overwhelming? And if it is overwhelming, what can we do about it? Blog about it.

 

Month 4 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 4 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) Search ipl2 for something related to what you teach. Now search Google the same way. What are the differences? How could you use ipl2 with your students? Blog about it.

2) Have you heard about the ELM databases before? If so, where, and what databases in ELM had you previously used? If not, go to the ELM databases page and look through the databases. Which ones do you think could be helpful for you in your classroom? Blog about it.

 

Month 5 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 5 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) What states benefit from Minitex and how is Minitex funded? How could you and your students share your stories to help Minitex?

2) Have you been adding RSS feeds to your Google Reader account? If so, what are your favorites? If not, why have you stopped using Google Reader?


Month 6 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 6 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) Now that you've heard about the backchannel, do you think you could utilize one of these tools in your classroom? Why or why not? How about using one of these tools, like Twitter, when you're at a conference? Blog about this.

2) What do you tell your students about notetaking when it comes to lectures and/or taking notes in their research? What tips from the Purdue OWL sites can you take and incorporate in your notetaking discussions? Blog about it.

 

Month 7 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 7 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) What publication/s do you typically read for your profession? Try using the Publication Title List to see if you could follow that publication via ELM. Write a blog post letting us know.

2) How could you use the Points of View Reference Center in your classroom? Blog about it.

 

Month 8 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 8 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) For most items created on or after January 1, 1978, what is the length of copyright?

2) Did you know what Creative Commons was before this webinar? If you did, have you ever searched for Creative Commons licensed work or have you ever put any of your work in the Creative Commons?

3) How do you try to explain copyright and fair use to your students? If you have never tried to explain this before, how would you try to explain this to them now?

4) What steps do you try to take in your class to make your assignments more plagiarism proof?

 

Month 9 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 9 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) After hearing about Google Presentation in the webinar, go look at Google Presentation and write a blog post about it. Is it easy to use? Could it be a good way to collaborate on presentations?

2) After you've heard about what screencasting is, is there a way you could use screencasting in your classroom? Either with you using it or with your students using it?

 

Month 10 Questions for MPS: (Please title your blog post as - MONTH 10 WEBINAR QUESTIONS)

1) After hearing the MILI recap in the webinar, write a blog post about some of the things that you maybe used months ago but you abandoned and let us know why you abandoned it. Do you not think it'll work in your class? Did you just simply forget it?

2) Revisit something you abandoned and look at it from a new perspective. Look at it from a different angle. If you thought you couldn't use it in class, could you use it personally or with your co-workers?

3) Create your presentation and blog it in the Ning!
